3E — AC 3-Tier Economy

A denser version of 3A introduced in 2021, with more berths per coach and a fare a little below 3A.

AC 3 Economy coaches squeeze more berths into the same LHB shell than a standard 3A coach, with narrower berths and an extra berth per bay along the side. Each berth has its own reading light, charging point and bottle holder. The fare is set slightly below 3A on the same route, which is the whole reason to choose it.

For cancellation purposes 3E is treated exactly like 3A. It does not appear on every train; where a train has both, 3E is usually listed as a separate class in the availability table.
