For a confirmed ticket cancelled more than 72 hours before departure the deduction is a flat charge per passenger by class: ₹240 in AC First and Executive, ₹200 in 2A, ₹180 in 3A, Chair Car and 3E, ₹120 in Sleeper and ₹60 in Second Sitting, with 5% GST on the AC classes. Between 72 and 24 hours it is 25% of the fare, between 24 and 8 hours it is 50%, in each case not less than the flat charge, and inside 8 hours there is no refund. These slabs took effect on 1 April 2026.
RAC and waitlisted tickets are charged only clerkage, ₹60 plus GST per passenger, if cancelled at least 30 minutes before departure. A confirmed Tatkal ticket gets no refund at all.
